To Shave, or Not to Shave, That is the Question

I’ve had two practices under my belt with the new custom skates and so far they feel great. I’m having a little trouble finding the top of my frames, but I think that will come in time. Also, having a little numbness in the toes after awhile, but again I think when they break in that should disappear.

Of more concern was the fact that today I felt like I was losing my edge in every corner - like it was sliding out. Which of course led to a fall and some fun knee abrasions.

I Get Custom Molded Part II - The Skates Arrive!

As I wrote in the first part of this series, I got molded for custom Hyper Sincro boots a little over a month ago. I have been impatiently waiting for the boots to arrive since I have been skating on borrowed skates that don’t fit me.

The boots finally arrived on December 20th - and of course I couldn’t use them because we were going to the Nutcracker that night. Good thing I paid for overnight shipping! I will actually skate on them for the first time this Thursday, and I cannot wait to try them out.

I Get Custom Molded for My Hyper Sincros

This weekend I traveled down to Springfield, IL to finally get molded for my custom Hyper Sincro boots. With all the skate troubles I have been having, it couldn’t have come sooner.

The man of action for this duty is none other than Jim Larson, the only man you want molding you for the Hypers. Jim is a great guy, a great skater, and really knows what he is doing.

I had prepared my feet with a bit of shaving, just in case.

Note the former patch of Hobbit hair that had been shaved clean!
