On Sunday, August 19th I skated and completed my first inline marathon. My training had picked up in recent weeks since the Chicago event, and I was assured by teammates and SkateLog forum members that I was ready. I’m really glad I moved up, the 10-mile tour would not have been nearly as satisfying or fun.

I was looking forward to skating in my first inline event. But after only two weeks of skating I’m in pretty horrible shape. My only plan was to finish the ten miles and try not to look too ridiculous in doing so.
I recently joined Team Rainbo and luckily was able to do some drafting with a couple teammates on most of lap one, but the rest I had to go solo in my old rec skates. I finished the event though and managed not to come in completely last.
