After missing two weeks worth of practice I finally got back to a coached session yesterday (Sunday). I’m still skating in borrowed skates that are both too big and too narrow, but I have no choice right now. That is partly why I have not skated much, plus I was giving my sore left ankle time to heal.

Indoor Season Begins - Whoa Is Me

Sadly, the outdoor season has come to a close (at least organized outdoor) which means it’s time to move indoors. Indoor skating is a whole other beast when compared to outdoor. You can get away with good skating skills, strength and fitness outdoors to a wide degree, but indoor you have to have some technique - well, some good technique.

Official Outdoor Skating Season is Over - New Goals

Last weekend’s outdoor practices marked the end of the outdoor skating season. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t decide to get my butt into gear and get in shape until more than half the skating season was over and I missed a lot.

The bright side is that I’ve gotten in shape. With the combination of the P90X program and skating I’ve lost 43 pounds (down from 220 to 177) and 10 inches off my waist. I’ve still got some to go but I’ve made good progress. The weight loss has certainly helped my skating, as have my Rainbo teammates with their awesome advice.
