Chicagoland and St. Paul Marathon Reports

August 15th, 2008 · 3 Comments · Inline Marathon, Race Report

I’m overlate with these but life has been hectic lately. I posted full reports on Skatelog, so if you want the full details go there. I’ve having some bad back issues lately, plus I got sick right before Chicagoland, which sucked because I was really looking forward to my home event.

In a nutshell, I dropped off the Chicagoland pack early due to not having enough energy from being sick, in addition to back pain. I skated some solo then picked up with some guys at the end and finished at 1:31, not placing well in my division.

At St. Paul, I was no longer sick but the back pain was far worse. I had some slippage problems with the wet pavement and lost my pack twice. I had finally got back to one of the advanced chase packs when I fell on mile 18, and that was that. Solo’d until I found a couple guys for the last few miles and again finished at 1:31, again not placing well in my division.

A year ago I would have been ecstatic at 1:31 times. Now I expect more out of myself than that. I’m trying to get my back in shape for the biggest best race of the year in Duluth, hopefully I’ll have a better report.

I skipped Duluth one year, for a woman no less, and I’ve always regretted it.
