Official Outdoor Skating Season is Over - New Goals

October 31st, 2007 · No Comments · Progress Report, Training

Last weekend’s outdoor practices marked the end of the outdoor skating season. Unfortunately for me, I didn’t decide to get my butt into gear and get in shape until more than half the skating season was over and I missed a lot.

The bright side is that I’ve gotten in shape. With the combination of the P90X program and skating I’ve lost 43 pounds (down from 220 to 177) and 10 inches off my waist. I’ve still got some to go but I’ve made good progress. The weight loss has certainly helped my skating, as have my Rainbo teammates with their awesome advice.

I’m feeling a bit tired in the last week or so, possibly fighting something off or just tired from all the training, hard to say. November 1st starts the indoor skating training season - this Thursday. It will be interesting to see what that is like. I’ll try and snap some photos of the practice.

I guess I can say I accomplished some goals over the summer. I got in shape, skated two marathons while finding a sport I am passionate about. It’s time to set some new goals.

First, I want to concentrate on learning better skating technique throughout the indoor season.

Second, I want to order my custom Hyper Sincro’s and get myself into customs instead of semi-race skates. That is in progress.

Third, I want to get down to at least 170, and probably lower - maybe 165. Hard to tell right now at 177, but I still have the middle section hanging on that needs to go.

If I can accomplish these things by the new year, I’ll consider that a success.
